It's In the Post!

I love the look of old post boxes!  I like this old King George one, and I think that the textures of the wall behind it just adds to its beauty!

It’s a shame that vandals are continually taking the little plates from the front which tell you when the next post uplift is.  I also think that the large boxes which the Post Office is adding to them spoils the look too, but I know its more convenient for post persons.

This box is along the prom at South Queensferry, so there are some lovely views of the Forth behind it.

I hope that we get to keep our old cast iron post boxes.  They are so iconic and the older ones are just beautiful with all their little extra decorative details.

Love, Liz

Your post box pics are fabulous Liz...I love the second one especially. Our corner post box is alot like the Queensferry one, I'll take a photo to show you when I'm walking the dog tomorrow.

Those boxes are so lovely, and I hate to think of vandals harming them! They're so much prettier than the ugly blue ones all over the place around here!
Happy REDnesday,
Carol

Great photos, I love the old boxes too. There is a house near me that was an old post office and they still have the old box in the wall of their house - i think it looks amazing. Scarlett x

English post boxes are so charming!

A SEEKER OF CRIMSON AND RED

A seeker of crimson and red
Did part her fair lips as she said,
“A daiquiri’s fine,
And so is red wine,
But I prefer claret instead!”

What wonderful photos of those beautiful old post boxes ~ so much charm and character! I think someone may need to race around and photograph/catalogue them all before they all disappear! They really don't make things like they used to, and I love how so much creativity and beauty went into designing such things as these. Ours are all pretty ugly over here (except they're still the colour red ~ at least that's something!). Love Brenda
