Beautiful and Historic - Culross

I visited the beautiful Fife village of Culross recently.  It has to be one of the most atmospheric places in Scotland.  There are so many original, historic houses there, that walking around the cobbled streets feels like stepping back in time.

The mustardy yellow building is Culross Palace which dates from 1597.  This is the colour it would have been originally!

You might recognise it as the location for a few films, among them - The Little Vampire and The 39 Steps.

The village is looked after by the National Trust for Scotland who have worked hard to retain the village's historic atmosphere.  If you are ever travelling in Fife, you must visit Culross.

Love, Liz

It looks like a very interesting place to visit. It is amazing about the colour of the building, somehow we seem to assume that everything from years gone by was black and white and grey, but it was a much more colourful place than we realise!! xx

Shamefully I've only ever passed through and never actually stopped. Next time I am up that way I will definitely rectify this.

It looks beautiful, I have added it to my to visit list for the next time we go up to Scotland. We take a different route each time we visit so we can see as much as possible.

Looks fascinating! Clearly, life in the 16th century was not as drab as we might imagine it!
