To see ourselves as other see us

On my recent trip to York I spotted this pub sign for the Burns Hotel.

Burns (Scotland's national poet) is reflected in the window and it reminded me of some of the words from his famous poem "To A Louse" -
O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
You can read the rest of the poem at the BBC website and hear it read by the actor Robert Carlyle.

Little Vintage Tea Room

Just back from a fabulous holiday visiting family in various parts of England.  One of the best things about being away is the lovely places you come across purely by accident.

One place that I loved was the Shoe Bun Bakery in the little village of Offord D'Arcy in Cambridgeshire.  It is a lovely little vintage tea room attached to the local pub - The Horseshoe Inn.

Of course my favourite part was the vintage crockery that our tea was served in.  There was lovely vintage linen on the table too.  The cakes were home baked - delicious!

If you think you would like to visit, then please check out the Shoe Bun Bakery Facebook page as they are only open on certain days.  A great place for afternoon tea.

A Little Bag of Happiness

I was given these as a gift by a lovely friend recently - they came in a pretty little bag called A Little Bag of Happiness.

What are you thinking - not much of a gift?  A penny, a marble, an elastic band and a piece of eraser - what kind of a gift is that?  Well, it came with a lovely little card that says it all.

"We all have those days when we feel a little blue, this bag has things inside for you
An eraser so your mistakes can disappear

A coin so you never have to say "I'm broke"
A marble in case someone says you've lost yours

A rubber band to stretch yourself beyond limits"

A very thoughtful and lovely gift, I'm sure you will agree.

Little vintage glasses

I found these lovely little vintage glasses recently.  They are in perfect condition and came in their presentation box.

Love the little bit of gold pattern around the edges.

Small, but would be ideal as shot glasses.

Had any lucky finds recently?

Classy Lady ... and a Blogger moan!

Isn't this a great picture?  I love her hat and the expression on her face!  Wonder how long it took her to perfect that look?  Perhaps I should have a caption competition.  What do you thing she is thinking!   (Keep it clean!!!!!)

Now for the moan -
Any one else really cheesed off by the cookies notice that appears every time you have a look at someone's blog?  It is driving me mad!!!!!!!  Is there any way to stop it?

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Unfortunately no hot weather here in Greenock!  I'm talking about this tea cosy!

I've knit it in bright orange and hot pink - what do you think?  Too garish?

I'm sure it would look great in someone's kitchen.  It is just waiting for a new home.

Hope you are getting some decent weather where you are.
