My favourite apron

My favourite apron is actually the name of a cross stitch design by Barbara Ana.  When I started I did wonder if I had bitten off more than I could chew with this one, but I actually enjoyed stitching it.

I changed a lot of the colours to ones that I liked and I think it has turned out ok.

The wording reads - I cannot count my day complete till needle, thread and fabric meet.  So true!

If you look closely at the apron you can see all the letters of the alphabet.  I have no idea what I want to do with this work.  I don't think framing it would be the right thing.  Perhaps a wall hanging?  Any other ideas?

I actually do wear an apron when I'm cooking or baking.  My real favourite apron is one that I found brand new in a charity shop years ago.  Read about it here.

Take care, stay safe and keep blogging!

Love, Liz

That is a really lovely cross-stitch. Lots of detail too. I checked out the apron link...and I do indeed like old pinnys much more practical than some of the aprons one can buy nowadays.I just can't find them like this here. keep well Amanda x

That is such a charming piece. I love it! I think I need to go hunt for one of my old aprons in my storage room :)

It is beautiful work. It would make a great pocket on a craft storage bag.

Such a darling cross stitch. I love aprons as well. I have a few that I've inherited from my grandmothers but I'm too afraid to use them, I mostly use a floral one that I got as a gift.

Beautiful cross stitch.
I clicked on your link to the other post and was instantly whisked back six and a half decades. My Nana used to wear one of the wrap around pinny's, in fact I rarely saw her without it. She always seemed to be busy baking date patties, for some reason. She was about four and a half foot tall and almost that around the middle.

That cross stitch is fantastic, Liz! The little apron is gorgeous, and I'm loving the wording too. Wonderful idea to change some of the colours to ones you like! xxx

I like your idea of making it into a wall hanging because it's a very vertical design. I had a stichery about that size that I put on dowels top and bottom, and it hung very nicely that way.

I wear an apron when I cook or bake mainly because I have the bad habit of wiping my hands on my shirt or pants. I love the thrift shop Cath Kidston apron you found some time back. It's gorgeous.
The cross stitch that you just finished is lovely, so colourful and full of detail.
