Afternoon Tea

One of the local churches had an old fashioned afternoon tea recently.  It was wonderful.  There was an article on BBC Breakfast this morning about the resurgence and increasing popularity of afternoon tea - obviously don't visit blogland very often!

Anyway, back to the church hall.  The tables were beautifully set with lovely china.

There were finger sandwiches … no, that was their shape, not their filling!

Lots and lots of homemade cakes!

Everything was served by charming waitresses dressed for the part.  (Just a little bit of substitution to protect the innocent!)

And there were even musical "turns" and recitations.  It was a great, old fashioned afternoon.

Love, Liz

What a great idea! I would have been there with bells on, particularly if Miss Marple was serving tea. (What kind of mischief was afoot at the church afternoon tea? She would have noticed the subtle tremor of a hand, the wrong coloured lipstick on a cup...Doris was wearing Sunset Coral yet her cup was smeared with Vixen Red, and the telling scent of almonds on sugar cubes that were placed in poor Dot's tea)

What a scrumptious-looking tea! Hey, I have that cup on the top photo, Old Country Roses pattern! I could attend a fancy tea every week and never be bored with it. :-)
