Rattling Teacups

I've a bit of a spooky story for you today!
It concerns these two lovely teacups and saucers.

I was in a charity shop in a town I hadn't visited before.  I don't know about you, but my routine in charity shops is to quickly scan shelves then explore items that have appealed to me.  I had done that and had looked at some cups and saucers, but they weren't my sort of thing, and I only buy things that I really like.

The shop was empty, so I had plenty of time to look and was attracted to some small decorated glasses to my right.  At that moment I heard a rattle and strangely enough, my first reaction was - something is trying to attract my attention!

That "something" was the little set I'm, showing you today.  The cups were literally rattling in the saucers!!!!  Nothing else on the shelf was moving, and there was no one else around the part of the shop I was in!!!

I hadn't noticed them on my first look, and the price was excellent - I immediately took them to the desk and bought them.

When I got home, I noticed that they were "Royal Cauldron" - well, that shook me up a wee bit - who do we usually associate with cauldrons?
Edit - yes, I read this wrong ... oops ... they still rattled, though!

Anyway, I'm glad I got them - I think that they are absolutely lovely.

Needless to say, hubby was less than impressed when I said that they made me buy them!

Have any of you had anything similar happen, or am I the only one with a strange experience in a charity shop?!!!

Love, Liz

It was absolutely fate - I'm a sucker for all eerie stories!! Clearly they were shouting 'pick me' and I love the pattern!

The closest I've got to spooky charity shop goings on was an old guy called Walt 'Woooooooo'-ing in a donated white sheet while the ladies sorting clothes in the back laughed away, tickled me for days :-)

Lol! They are sweet cups! I have had books fall off shelves for me, but never tea cups rattle! That is amazing!
I think they must have seen you and said "Ooooh, that looks like a really nice lady...let's go home with her!"
: )
Hugs,
Terri

Gotta tell you...you misread the name. It's CAULDON NOT Cauldron. A very reputable Staffordshire china firm...I'm afraid the spookiness was from somewhere else...not the teacups!

Oh how funny! My partner groans on a Thursday because it's my day off and I always look forward to my chazzer run. We had a new one open last week so I had to show my support and come home with a couple of things. Would have been rude not too!
thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment the other day. Those Lloyd Loom prams are fab aren't they?!

Liz-Some things just speak to us ... and in some cases I guess they need to shout or rattle as the case may be! They are sweet. I think you were meant to misread the name ... it made for a good story.

Hi Liz, thanks for your message on my blog - I thought I'd pop over and check out your blog too! I love these cute teacups and saucers (I too have a fondness for vintage china). I really like the scalloped edges on these cups - very cute! I think you did well to find them.....or them to find you!
