Raspberry Vodka

In October, while many good folk were making their home made Christmas cakes and preserves from autumnal bounty, I was making ... well ... raspberry vodka!  No, I wasn't making the actual vodka myself, just the raspberry flavoured bit!

Add fresh raspberries and sugar to vodka (quantities available online).  Shake every day till the sugar has dissolved, then leave in a cool dark place for a couple of months (if you have the willpower).  As you can see, it goes the most fantastic shade of red.

I sieved the mixture and poured into lovely little bottles to give as little gifts at New Year, but at home I have a little tot with some of the raspberries left in - delicious!
You can make it at any time of year and I think it would also be nice mixed with soda as a summer drink.  Mine never lasts that long!

Happy weekend ..... hic!

Love, Liz

Sounds lovely, I have some raspberries in the freezer from last years harvest. The ideal way to use them up I think.

OOh, I should try that. It looks delicious. We grow raspberries every year, and many seem to go to waste. T x

This sounds delicious Liz. I've never really taken to Vodka but this sounds as though I might enjoy a tot or two. Enjoy your weekend.

that looks delicious! I made toffee vodka last year using Werther's sweets, so might try something different this year....maybe blackberry vodka, good excuse to go blackberrying!

Lovely stuff :D

I made blackberry vodka this year and it's been very popular. Only difference is you have to take all the fruit out after six months or the blackberries would make the alcohol start to taste woody.

Bottoms up ;)

It sounds yummy but is probably very intoxicating! I made some limoncello in the summer and one small glass and I'm gone!!

A friend of mine does something similar with sloes - sloe gin - but the colour isn't half as glorious as yours. Will definitely give this a go - I can see see it in some lovely summer spritzers x Jane

Your little glass makes the vodka look extra special. I'm sure it tastes lovely.

As a by-the-way, did you know that vodka makes an excellent spray starch for your pressing? a 6 parts distilled water, to 4 parts vodka, plus a few drops of essential oil in a pistol grip sprayer and you'll have the best pressing spray you've ever used on your fabric. Works a treat on my quilting fabric. Also good for garments that are dry clean only for freshening them up between professional cleans. Used in the theatre for that very purpose.

My mom is good at making different flavours vodka: cherry, currant and yeah, rasberry. But I've never tried to do it myself.

I love raspberry vodka and gin. My dad made some the year before last but I didn't get to drink much! Have fun! X

I did this with lemon a few years ago - it didn't last long either! I must try the raspberry one. Soon!
