I Knew I Hadn't Thrown Them Out!

I was sure I had them somewhere, and sure enough when we tidied out the under stairs cupboard recently I came across this box of books.   I put it aside and just opened it this morning.  After trawling through the fairy tales and annuals this is what I found .....

Piles of Ladybird Books!!!!!  Happy dance ... ♫ ♪ ♫ ♫ ♫  ♪ ♫ ♫

Some are mine from childhood and some are from when my sons were young.  I knew I wouldn't have thrown them out!

I remember sharing this one with my elder son when he was just a baby!

Well, I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the day!

Love, Liz

oh these are lovely. I have a few of the books from when my children were young. I also have one or two books that have my father's signature in them from when he was young. It is like finding long lost friends.

Children books, especially vintage are one of my favorite things. What a lovely surprise it must have been when you found them. Perhaps you will share somemore of these books and illustrations.

Dear Liz
Ooh - lots of happy memories there! I watched the documentary on TV on Ladybird books then had to immediately root mine out from under the bed - a couple of happy hours followed, re-acquainting myself with these little treasures. Love them!
Best wishes
Ellie

Oh how lovely to find your books again. I still have my original ladybird book on Rocks and Minerals which I shall never part with. I used to collect rocks and fossils (still do) and used to love looking through this book and dreaming of what I might find! I've picked up a few old ones from charity shops over the years and my son has a small collection he purchased on holiday trips to Norfolk. I love looking at the pictures (and I do sometimes read the words). Enjoy yours!

Dearest Liz,
That makes indeed for a happy dance! Those are treasures to keep as family heirlooms and I WISH, people nowadays would read as much as we did.
Thanks for your comment on my vintage pipes. They indeed are very unique and even though not being used anymore, they're family heirlooms.
Hugs,
Mariette

Ladybirds are hugely nostalgic, aren't they? I have quite a few. My favourites are the older rhymed stories, usually about animals (Downy Duckling and co!) xxx

What a wonderful way to spend the day. I envy you a lot.
My mum had the majority of the kids books because I gave them to her to keep, as she used to have my niece and nephew an awful lot on weekends. When they decided to pack up and move, they either sold them in garage sales or donated them to the charity shops.
What a thrill to come across some vintage ladybirds.

Ah that was lucky - there's nothing worse than wondering whether you threw them out or they were simply misplaced. What memories they must bring back.
