Cross stitch, Lego and Dippy

I started a new cross stitch last weekend.  The colours are lovely and I'm sure it will look pretty when it is finished.

Haven't had much time to work on it though, as this happened -

No, a tornado did not sweep through Shortbread Towers, but my two little grandsons and their Mum and Dad came to visit!  The Lego room was well used, as you can see!  (Check out the "before" pictures here!)

It was lovely to have my family around, unfortunately I was not very well - a dreadful chest infection.  I wasn't able to do all the lovely things we had planned for the visit.  I was so disappointed.  I am rarely unwell (touch wood), and of course it did have to happen when the boys were here!

However, I did manage to join them on a visit to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow to see Dippy the dinosaur.  Dippy is on tour around the UK, his original home is the Natural History Museum in London (click on the link to find out tour dates).  What amazed me most was his tiny head!

The family returned home yesterday - I spend most of the day sleeping, I was shattered!  Today I'm taking things easy - catching up on your blogs and doing some gentle cross stitch.  Still don't feel great and have absolutely no energy.

Hubby is watching the rugby and contemplating where to start to get some sort of order back in the Lego room!  I'm sure he'll enjoy every minute of it.

Love, Liz

Ah, yes, Lego. I remember it well, I think that I still have scars on my feet from a few of those tiny bits. I must admit that when my son handed it all over to his nieces I did not know whether to be relieved or saddened. I am envious of cross stitch, one day I will sit down with some you tube tutorials and try. I did buy a starter kit last year.

Such a shame you were poorly whilst you had your visitors. Hope you feel so much better soon.

Oh no, disaster has struck in the Lego Room! It looks a bit like Dove Cottage after my husband's grandchildren had been there when they were little. Good luck to your husband with recreating some kind of order ... I've been feeling a bit low in energy as well, maybe it's all the sunshine we've been lacking. Have been trying to top up Vitamin D levels now that the sun has finally made an appearance. Have a relaxing Sunday, Liz! xxx

I hope your chest infection soon clears up. It's no fun being ill, especially when you want to get out and enjoy yourself and your family time :( My son used to play with his lego for hours and hours. Take care. Best, Jane

I love seeing a floor strewn with Lego pieces. Lego is such a fabulous 'toy'. How disappointing you were sick when your family visited. I hope you are back to your old self soon. Those are pretty colours in your new cross stitch. I look forward to seeing it finished.

So sorry to hear you've not been well especially when you had your dear visitors. A good dose of cross stitch should do the job to get you back to normal while the lego room is put to rights after all the excitement. 😊

It sounds as if your family were well entertained when they came to stay. Sorry that you were not feeling so good, but managed to get to see the Dinosaur with them. I didn't know it was on tour. That's great for anyone who can't get to London. I hope that you're soon 100% better. Some more cross stitching of your lovely new design will surely be a relaxing thing to do this week.
