What's for pudding?

Hmm ... let me just consult my recipes ... from 1960!

Wow - those colours pop, don't they?  This is a pull-out cookery booklet from Woman magazine from  6 February 1960.  It must have been my mother's and I've kept it all these years.

Don't think I've ever made anything out of it.  Don't think my mother did either - she wasn't one for "fancy" food.  Wonder why she kept this?

So, to answer the question - I think we'll have fruit salad.  But without the orange semolina cake!

Do you remember any of these recipes?

Love, Liz

It would be fun to try some of the recipes out. Mom used to make Lemon Meringue pie often, one of my favorites!

I think the only one I have heard of is the baked jam roly poly which featured heavily on our school lunch menu. The rest of them are a bit of a mystery...lol.

I have old recipe books "just in case". Some times you just need to look for inspiration.

I used to love the milk jellies my Mum made when I was little.

You never know when you might need to make a fancy pudding! I've seen those orange ones before but they had sorbet inside them.

Roly poly pudding was a firm favourite at school.

Those fancy puddings really are something else, aren't they? I just love old recipe books! How wonderful that your Mum kept it and you still have it after all those years. I've got the cookery book my Mum was given when she was married and love browsing through it, often finding cuttings from magazines between its pages. Nothing as lovely as this, though! xxx

I love jam roly poly.... yummy, but more for the winter than a summer pudding
