Vintage tin of tatting

I got this vintage tin some time ago - it is a beautiful picture of the Forth Rail Bridge. and once contained Beatties of Glasgow biscuits.  Inside was some sewing bits and pieces - needles thread and some unfinished items of  tatting.

This panel looked nothing on a plain surface but when I held it up to the light the pattern became clear - look at the lovely butterfly.

Also inside was this vintage magazine.  Possibly from the 60s or 70s - price 1/3!

There were some lovely vintage ladies inside with wonderful tatted collars.

There was also some unfinished work with thread which I'll call bilious-green!

Someone's well loved work I'm sure.

You can read about another vintage tatting magazine that I found here.

Love, Liz

Such a lovely find, Liz. I am so glad that all of these tatting treasures have found a good home.

My grandmother and mother both tatted. I still have the shuttles they used. I have several pillowcases with their hand-tatted lace edges that they made. Sadly, it is really a lost art now. xo Diana
