Back to 1981

This will take you back!

I remember I had the day off work so that we could watch the Royal Wedding on tv.

I kept these souvenir edition newspapers of the big day.  My favourite has to be this family tree showing lots of coats of arms - really colourful.

But what really drew my attention as I was looking through these before I threw them into the recycling were the adverts!

I especially like the technology items - hard to imagine that this was 1981!  Think I'm starting to feel my age!

Love, Liz

We drove across Holland and Germany to catch a ferry to the UK on that day. We figured traffic would be lighter once we landed in the UK. We were right.

I had to work on the day of the royal wedding, the boss wouldn't let us have the day off.

Wow, look at the price of that answering machine!!
Things have come such a long way since the days of needing an answering machine haven't they?
I don't think I have the newspaper from the Royal Wedding but I have kept the one for the day after Diana's death and also the first one from the new millennium. They will be something interesting for the grandchildren to look back at when they are older.

Liz, these are wonderful collectibles. I too watched the Royal Wedding and loved every minute of it. Princess Diana was so beautiful. Time does fly by. My internet has been down (guys working in our neighborhood all week) so I'm just catching up with everyone. Hope you have a great week. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

We were annoyed in Scotland that our children didn’t a day off because they were already on holiday. We had a fabulous street party-11 houses-and everyone decorated their houses. I became the queen of bunting as I was off school and had a sewing machine!
