Greenock mending find yarn in wool and nylon - anything associated with my home town is a great find as far as I'm concerned!
Love this - snug bras! Look at the materials listed - cotton, rayon, rubber and steel! Just as well the little fixing is there or it could be totally misconstrued!
Isn't this Duldarn gal totally fab! Got to darn those stockings!
There was also this lovely little vintage zipped needle case.
And last, but not least, an instructions booklet for a Singer electric motor sewing machine.
Snap! I managed to find a few cards of these mending threads at the weekend too! I love the designs and use them on my handmade cards ...
Have a good week ...
What a lovely find Liz. I've got a few pieces that I inherited from my mum and love finding them in my work basket.
Great little finds ... reminders of when people made do with what they had and repaired Everything rather than buy new. That poor lady looks so sad with the run in her stockings :( Wendy
What great sewing items! I enjoy seeing how vintage items were packaged. I like the fonts, illustrations, and I wish that the prices of todays items were that low.
I love the packaging, isn't it pretty? The Duldarm lady is beautiful! x
Just my kind of find. It would be in my bag straight away.
Love from Mum
Oh that Duldarn lady and her finger waved hair - even glamorous people got holes in their stockings! Lovely post x Jane
These are so neat!! Such great finds! Love your beautiful spring tea sets with the daffodils, too! xo Heather
Lovely haberdashery, I love stumbling upon this sort of thing, you've got some lovely examples here! :) x
What lovely finds. I'm looking forward to a morning of chazzing on Wednesday! x
What lovely little finds! Love a snug bra myself, and the Duldarn lady is delightful. xxxx
Great find, I always snap up vintage sewing supplies when I am lucky enough to come across them. Love the hose mending thread, brilliant...x
I think packaging back then told a much more emotive story than it does today... does that mean their marketing was better, I wonder? Really like the Singer machine instructions, looks very similar to the model I've been trying to get working for a friend lately. x
wow what a treasure trove! I always look for notions and stuff like this at my local op shop - so far v slim pickings! still I'll keep looking!
Those are lovely. I'd have snapped them up, even though my sewing boxes are overflowing with thrifted haberdashery items. I just can't resist them!
Those are fab its worth it just for the orignal packaging, dee x
Perfect finds. I adore the cards they come on so much.
Can't imagine trying to mend hose! Such neat finds. Love the little sewing manual. It probably goes with my lovely old Singer that was made in Glasgow in 1939 and still sews like a fiend.
I love that old packaging and those soft colours of the thread too. You always find the best stuff! x
I knew I'd seen that Duldarn lady before! I hit the motherlode this weekend! x
