The dark haired one is from Ireland, I think - I'm going to
call her Colleen.
Not sure where the other one is from ... Scandinavia,
perhaps. I'm sure someone out there will let me know. I'm going to call her Ingrid. She is a really well made doll - her legs and
arms move and her hair is lovely.
I used to have a collection (well, about six, including Wales and Scotland) - my aunties
didn't venture too far!
And, yes, before you ask ......... they are both wearing
knickers ........ the dolls that is, not the aunties (although I'm sure they
did too)!
Love, Liz

Seeing your lovely collection brings back memories! Not sure what happened to mine though!I think I had the odd one from Spain and Switzerland, but popular air travel abroad for holidays was still taking off in the 60s.

ur post reminds me of the children's song "My Aunt Came Back! from (insert whatever country) and she brought me back a (insert whatever was well-known in said country)" lovely dolls!
I had lots of these dolls when I was younger, I really liked my little welsh doll best! :) x
Their eyes are so beautiful - how lovely!
I remember having a rather glamorous lady from Spain in a blue flamenco outfit and a Welsh lady in National costume. Last week I saw a box of them in a charity shop and had great fun trying to guess where each one had come from - I was sort of tempted to buy them but they looked a little worse for wear! It certainly brought memories flooding back x Jane (P.S. glad that your Aunties are properly attired!)
My Dad worked abroad when I was a child and always bought home a doll for me. I came across a boxful when I was clearing recently and I'll sell them at a vintage fair! x
Yes Liz, I too can remember the dolls.

Love the dolls and the memories they evoke, lovely post.
..love your dollies x
Yep, I did have a small collection but I can't remember how I acquired them. Isn't it funny that people pick up dolls and immediately want to look to see if they have knickers on!

P.S some were not so lucky in the underwear department..poor things
I had a Spanish one, a Scots guard, and a little Eskimo! Nice memories.
Looking at your dolls certainly brings back memories. My Grandma went on two world trips and brought back oodles of dolls. She use to have them sitting all on a row on her dresser.

On our last trip to China, we bought our three granddaughters some gorgeous dolls in costume. They are just so sweet. The girls love them.
♥ lovely dolls♥ Have a happy weekend♥ xxx Riitta
These dolls remind me of the doll that my father bought for me when I was just 3 (though it was not in national costume). I have a small collection of dolls at home, still have this weakness for dolls.
These are great, I have a Dutch one and a Scottish one, though I don't really have any room for them anymore
hej..I think the other doll is wearing Norwegian Bunad...national costume..this link will help you identify which region/area she came from. absolutely beautiful

I adore little dolls in costume. Their dresses stay on.
